Hello Skiers,
The Boulder Nordic Sport Thanksgiving Camp is still on! We have plans in place to be able to ski on minimal snow on Blue Ridge at Snow Mountain Ranch. All we need is a little help from Mother Nature.
Check-in for the ski camp begins at 8:00am until 8:45am at the Snow Mountain Ranch Nordic Center, upstairs next to the Skinny Ski Cafe. Please be there early so we can start skiing on time. At registration we will make sure you are enrolled in the correct technique, that you have signed the waiver and we will provide meal tickets to those who purchased the meal plan. Please remember to bring your SMR season pass, otherwise we will be selling 3 day passes for $25 or handing out the trail passes ordered on the web.
If you ordered the meal plan, breakfast will be served from 6:30-8am at the Schlessman Commons Dinning Facility at SMR. Lunch will be served at the Skinny Ski Cafe at the Nordic Center and then Dinner will be held back at the Schlessman Commons Dinning Facility from 5-7:30pm.
Please have your equipment in order before you show up at the camp. That means all the storage wax scraped off and all kick wax removed from last year. Be ready to ski at 9:00am. We will have a short technique discussion inside and then hit the trails. The 1st session on Friday will be SKATING, except of course for the classic-only group. There is a lot to do on the first day, so arriving ready and organized helps everyone spend more time skiing and less time standing around.
While we are still 10 days away from the camp, there is not currently skiable snow and we realize that this is a concern. If snow conditions are inadequate to hold the camp, we will make every effort to make that decision with enough advance warning to allow people to change plans. But at the same time, it is early November and we are not going to start worrying about the lack of snow until a week away from the event.
We will make the final call about cancellation by Tuesday, November 20th at 6PM. We will evaluate the situation daily, taking into account the weather forecast and trail conditions. We will provide updates as to our decision-making process via email and web at www.bouldernordicsport.com. Please help us out by maintaining patience and contacting us only if there is a real need. We are ski coaches who do this for fun and we don’t have a call center in India to manage 50 calls per day. Your help during this challenging time is greatly appreciated.
In the event of a cancellation, we will refund the money we have collected minus any fixed expenses we’ve incurred. The small amount to cover our fixed expenses is $30 per person. If you made reservations with Snow Mountain Ranch for lodging please contact them directly for refunds, if available. We are working with SMR to find out more information concerning this.
This camp has been held five years in a row and we expect to continue with a successful sixth. Think Snow and we will look forward to seeing you for another great Fall Camp.
Thanks,
Nathan and Eric
