Structure Recommendation:
Structure will be key here for this race with new snow around freezing forecast.
Start with a medium to warm stone grind. BNS S2.2 or S3.2 or Fischer Factory Plus (P5-1).
Depending on how much new snow comes in and how wet it is, hand structure will need to be light or medium.
We recommend trying the Holmenkol Cross Structure roller with one roller (if the snow is on the drier side) and two rollers (if wetter).
Kick Wax Recommendation:
Skate Race
Notes:
The forecast is unsettled, so it could be a lot of different things on race day. It is common for the forecast to be warmer than reality, so it would be a good idea to come with a pair of colder skis waxed in the blue/violet range to cover all bases if the forecast does not pan out. If the forecast is accurate, then it looks like there will be a small amount of new snow around freezing. If it is slightly below freezing, that would be a very different situation than slightly above freezing, so again, be prepared for different outcomes.
Some good strategies:
1. Bring two pairs of skis - one waxed for the colder/drier outcome, one for the warmer/wetter.
2. Adjust to the conditions using liquid waxes (Rode RL Med or Wet OR Holmenkol FF1 Red vs Yellow)
3. Adjust to the conditions using hand structure.
