Test Discussion

Expect cold temps initially, but warming quickly under clear skies. The snow should be a mostly new natural snow and will run colder than the air temps by a few hours. I found the Holmenkol Racing Mix Mid mixed with Ski*Go Universal HF to work well in these conditions. Sometimes the Universal HF is faster on its own, and just the Mix Mid will probably work well. Other options might be to mix Holmenkol Racing Mix Mid and Cold.

For Fluoro powder – Ski*Go C105 is specially designed for temps below freezing down to -15C. Holmenkol Mid 08 works extremely well with new snow, so it might be a good option if there is more new snow.

For topcoats, again, with the cold temps it will really depend on whether the snow is mostly new, or more transformed. It is probably best to try some things race day if you have the time.

We are not expecting a lot of new snow, so a firm ski with a fine linear structure will probably work best.

note: BNS imports Holmenkol and SkiGo waxes, and also sells waxes from Swix, Toko, Rode, Solda, Rex, Guru, Innovax, Magnar and others. We search for the fastest waxes for our customers and our testing is professional, objective and transparent. We make our best effort to test what we think is the best from each brand.  However, given that we are testing more options from Holmenkol and SkiGo, there is a bias toward those brands.  With this full disclosure, you can assess the legitimacy of our testing yourself.
